new words {press} is hosting a book launch for Birch Wiley's debut collection, Mythweaver. The event is free to attend. It will be held Monday, August 4th, 7pm at Brooklyn Poets. Green Stories Epiphanies Flash Fiction Competition Green Stories is running a flash fiction competition for stories under 500 words on the theme of “epiphanies”: when a moment of realisation causes one or more characters to change for the greener. £1000 ($/€1200) worth of prizes. Learn more here. Deadline 27th August 2025. Winning entries will be published as an anthology. In a follow-up short film competition, we’ll invite filmmakers to select their favourite story to adapt as a short film.
M E N A C E is seeking submissions of original art, film, video, sound, creative nonfiction, and fiction for publication in the Autumn 2025 issue. While not strictly a space for the speculative, M E N A C E seeks the “literary weird”—work that would be rejected from big literary magazines for being too genre.
